New Video

Here is a video of Beckham. He loves to shake his head now that his hair has gotten longer, especially when he is dancing. The rest is of the boys riding their bikes. At the end you will see a funny thing that Bex does. Whenever Trey falls off his bike, Beckham will run over and help him lift it back up.

Enjoy

8 Years later

No I'm not talking about our almost 8 years of marriage, but my 8 years of fantasy football w/ me and my 11 cousins. I won for the first time this past year and got a shirt from Yahoo. Can you tell I'm excited?

Naughty boy

Beckham almost gave me a heart attack this morning. I was vacuuming and he was playing in his room, and Carson called on the phone so I turned off the vacuum. I thought it was awfully quiet so I went to check on Beckham and he was nowhere to be found. I searched the house and found the laundry room light on so I went in and the door to the garage was slightly ajar. I ran out and saw the garage door wide open and no Beckham. I ran around the neighborhood for a while in my sweatpants and ratty tee shirt and messy hair and no makeup, and couldn't find him so I went up to the park. The ladies there said he hadn't been there but one girl had seen two little boys in my garage, one fitting Beckham's description and another wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt. I thought that was weird since Trevor was at school, and the ladies went down the street with me to help me look. Just then the neighbor across the street burst out of her house asking if we'd seen her little boy in a blue hooded sweatshirt. He had been playing in the backyard and slipped into the neighbor's yard through a broken board in the fence and gone out their open gate. It's the strangest thing that both of the boys managed to get out of the house at the same time - Beckham has never gone out through the garage all by himself before, and he doesn't even know the kid across the street - he's more than a year older than him and they've never once played together since they moved here last fall. So we're totally freaked out and searching all over calling their names and it's been like 15 minutes and we can't find them anywhere. I was afraid some pedophile had been driving by and seen two toddlers in the street by themselves and picked them up. But I had a calm feeling like he was okay, so I just kept praying that we could find him. I had just decided to get in the car and start driving the streets and was backing out of the driveway when one of the ladies from the park yelled that she saw them. They had gone back behind our house, down the street and across the other street, through an open gate into the usually closed off drainage pond and were standing on the opposite bank. It was cold outside and Beckham had short sleeves and no shoes, and the other boy had taken off his sweatshirt, tee shirt and hat and was naked from the waist up. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? Even though they're so little, didn't they have some feeling that they shouldn't be running off into the wilderness all by themselves? I was so relieved, but Beckham seemed to think nothing of it and said "bye bye!" to all his new friends. After his long time-out he was back to his normal, mischevious self. Seriously, what are we going to do with that kid? But we did buy a lock for the laundry room door.

Big kids

We went to the Pediatrician this week and it's not a surprise, but Beckham is huge! He is way off the charts for height and 97th percentile for weight (35lbs)! Caeden is growing well but is still about the 25th percentile for everything, maybe it's because he was 17 days early or maybe he'll just be our short child! He's starting to look chubby and he's defnitely a happy baby, especially since we've been giving him zantac for his acid reflux. He smiles at us all the time and sometimes makes cute little noises.

Last night Trey was in the Primary talent show at church. He wanted to do something different so we set up the ingredients for Snickerdoodles and he did a cooking demonstration like a show on the food network. He really enjoyed being on stage and feeling special and eating all the cookie dough while we were practicing.

Beckham has been experiencing the toddler "language explosion" and now talks all the time. He's been putting words together and you can tell that he's less frustrated now that he can explain what he wants better. This morning I was doing the dishes and couldn't hear Caeden upstairs and Beckham came to tell me "Mommy, baby crying." He is still so protective of Caeden and pats him when he's crying and constantly wants to kiss him, and will get a bottle and put it in the baby's mouth himself if he thinks I'm not getting to it fast enough.

Our family has been sick a lot this winter and Beckham has had frequent diarrhea. He's learned that it's better to get it off right away, so now after he goes in his diaper he comes up to us and says "bye bye poo poo?" Then when we're done changing him he loves to throw it in the trash can and says with emphasis "Bye bye poo poo!"

Update

Here are some pix that we have taken the last few days. This is Caeden getting fat and happy.

It looks like everybody likes to sleep with the baby. This is Risa sleeping in w/ Caeden

This is Trey acting like he is sleeping with the baby...
This is Bex falling asleep under the baby when he is in the swing because that is as close as he can get to him.

The following pictures are all Trey. The camera was set up on the tripod and he learned how to do the 10 timer. He set it and would be a "model" for the picture. They are pretty funny.

Here is one that he wanted to have taken w/ the baby.
This is how bad it can get if you're not careful and have three kids at home...

Trevor

While Beckham likes to be athletic and a charmer, Trey definitely likes to be smart and creative. Above is a picture that he drew at church last Sunday. When he first brought it to us we were like, "that's nice Trevor," but thinking what the heck is that? He started to explain it to us and we were suddenly amazed and impressed. Here is the legend:
A - the colors of the rainbow in correct order ROYGBIV
B - This is the path of life with the Iron Rod, (which you can't see very well in this scanned image)
C - an obstacle on the path that you need the iron rod to get around safely
D - the bread and water of the sacrament. The bread represents (the arrow) his body (orange circles)
E - the water represents his blood
F - picture of what happened to Jesus. He was on the cross, had a "spikey thing" put on his head and sword stuck in his side
G - the primary colors that can be mixed (the arrows) to make the secondary colors
H - don't look too hard, there really isn't an H, sorry

Needless to say, we were pretty impressed. He did all of this without any prompting by us or any recent discussion of those topics. Times like this show us that kids really do listen to what you try to teach them and what they hear in primary.

This past Friday I was making a spreadsheet in excel to track all of our medical expenses. Last year the hospital messed up w/ my leg surgery and over charged us $600. With my obsessive compulsive disorder and a recent self found refund like that I couldn't help but make a spreadsheet to track these expenses every year. I was having a difficult time though. I like to use functions in excel, and especially logic functions. For the first time yesterday I was trying to put a logic function within another logic function. I was having a difficult time getting the exact syntax. Trevor asked why I was talking out loud to myself and pointing to the monitor. Marisa explained to him my situation. A few minutes later he came to me with these two drawings and said that this should help me!

This second one shows me how the letters in fof can be rearranged into off among all the other things on this paper that I guess are just beyond my comprehension ;) It was very cute to see him try and help me out in my moment of frustration.
