Progress

After a two year delay, yes two years, there is finally some progress on the building of my dental office!!!!!!

Not the greatest pic since I took it with my phone, but extremely exciting nonetheless.

On Friday we met with our design consultant to get started on all the design ideas we have been working on over the past two years. He was surprised by our details until we reminded him of how long we've waited and showed him the pictures of our house. That was another good thing for us. We literally spent hundreds of hours into the design and plan of our home.

All the way from watching Cribs 7 years ago in Maryland...

...and taking notes on the computer about what little details we liked in what they did on the show...to spending countless hours making spreadsheets and tracking notes from what light fixtures we could get at Lamps Plus or what options there are for faucets and sinks. All this compounded with our desire to fit within the Arts and Crafts design style and be as cheap (price not quality) as possible...a daunting task. All of the research and decisions have been so stressful, and the thought of going through that again made us dread the interior designing of the dental office, even though we generally like things like that.

Then came the epiphany...

...obvious to some maybe, but with two fried minds it came as an epiphany to us. Why not do the office in the same style as the house, just switch up the color placement a little and some of the materials? Brilliant! The consultant loved the ideas, and we love the fact that we don't have to spend time ourselves or pay him to spend as much time either.

On a side note, we hung only the third thing on the walls of our new house today. We previously had only done one mirror and one piece of art. We hung our second mirror today. A mix of too many other projects to take care of combined with a fear to put any holes in our new house have made the decisions of hanging things on the wall difficult.

I like your new background. Congrats on the walls coming up on your office, about time! So how do you feel about people profiting by all your hard work and labor. Say, for example, that you have this friend, and they would like to use those valuable spreadsheets and stuff? Not that I know anyone like that.

BTW, have any thoughts for your future posts on cake and icing? Looking forward for more!

yay! It looks great, even though it is just walls, at least they are up right? I think using your home designs is a great plan, you guys worked so hard, why not get good use out of it all!

That is very exciting. I am glad you are finally seeing some progress. We have lived in our house for a little over a year and have not hung anything but a wreath (which I am not sure that I love) on the walls. Take your time...I am really getting use to bare walls, maybe it should be a new way to design.
