Trip List

Below I have a list of items to take on trips and vacations. I started it a few years ago because I hated that feeling right as we left somewhere that I was forgetting something. I thought about posting it here for the last few months to challenge anyone to see if I was missing something. I didn't because I was afraid people would think I was too weird, er...nerotic, but if you already know me then you already know that. Marisa mentioned it to a few people the other night that wanted a copy. So, here it is to copy and try the challenge. I recently added subjects to the list like "stadium" and "picnics" so those lists are probably incomplete more than the first couple sections.

That's enough to make a person want to stay home!

I found this list humorous. Thanks for the laugh. Man, we travel the old fashion way. I need to get some electronic devices to keep my kids entertained. I'm thinking this is the key.

Nancy, the electronics are the only way to go. We have decided that the DVD player is the greatest travel invention ever. It can keep toddlers manageable on a 5 hour plane flight or a 10 hour car ride. I don't know how my parents did it without those. God bless them for their patience with us.

Nancy, maybe you haven't done enough 3 day car rides or 7 hour plane rides. After the fourth or fifth of those plane rides w/ a toddler old enough to want to run around but not old enough to entertain other ways I would of gone w/o lunch for a month to buy something to keep them entertained.

And, who said they were all for the kids?

Cool list. We have a few camping trips planned this summer and will totally use this list to help us get ready.

One thing to add to the tolietries bag or tolietries other section. Starts with a "t" ends with hygene. Your wife will appreciate it. :) Stacy thought of this one but was too embarrased to post on it.

Aaron,
Thanks. I'm surprised that wasn't on there since Marisa helped me with this list and we add to it over the years every time we realize something is missing. I guess w/ 3 kids, 5 miscarriages and an extremely long cycle time we haven't ever had a trip and that sync up.

Pretty much, you should just take your house.

HA, you guys are awesome. We just went camping and forgot various items including cups. We drank out of bowls and I thought "shoot, I should of printed off 'theCalderwoodlist'" After way too many "how many more minutes?" we're thinking it's time to go donate blood or something to get our hands on a DVD player.

Hey, you need to OWN your neuroses! Don't be ashamed. I'm proud of you for putting it out there for the rest of us to point and laugh at.

carson- you forgot sheets in the hotel section. i don't think a blanket is enough to avoid the nastiness. b thinks i'm psycho about this one, and i have only tried it once- but i've never slept so well in a hotel!

Carson, you forgot to shut off the ice maker and the taps on the washer. There are a lot of homes that get flooded while people are away. Great list!

One addition & one suggestion:

Addition: Pillows on the hotel list. I always feel that the pillows at hotels are not enough. Sure you can call housekeeping to bring more, but they only bring the crummy feather ones where your head ends up resting on the bed with all the feathers pushed to the edges.

Suggestion: Put the cell phone charger on the general list. It is already on the electronics list, but it is too crucial not to be on the general list. Plus, for those mocking the electronics list, I am sure they have a cell phone.

Whoa! I found a big one missing:

FLASHLIGHT

You have lantern in your outdoors section, but I keep a mini-maglite for every trip (in my backpack). It has come in handy in many different circumstances.
