Longest Post Ever!

We now have a huge feeling of comfort because we finally finished the last cans to complete our 3 month food storage supply. Since we are in a house we will be in forever (or a long time) we put the water and long term #10 canned goods in our crawl space to stay cool and out of the way.

We dropped $65 bucks on fireworks yesterday which isn't much if you know of the Calderwood family 24th of July tradition. All the cousins get together in Victor, Idaho, buy tons of illegal fireworks and light them off because the city police chief is an in-law and he lets us light up the valley sky! Seriously, it is so much fun to drop a raquetball sized firework into the launching tube after lighting the 2 foot fuse and hope the tube doesn't fall over and point at you! We bought all the cheap fireworks that the local store discounted to get you to visit them. It filled up a huge box and we can't wait to light them off tomorrow.

Last Friday my cousin Russell came to visit. We visited Snoqualmie Falls, saw my new office construction and hung out while we had a BBQ before heading off to the airport.

On Tuesday night we went to the Mariner's game for LDS night. The Mariners are by far the worst team in quality of play in the league. Lucky for us (or maybe them) LDS night brought the magic and they had an amazing come from behind rally to win. We planned on leaving early, but the boys were so caught up in the excitement that they did pretty well. Bex basically chanted "I-Chi-Ro" while pumping his right arm the entire game. We finally left around 10:30! Maybe it was the baseball players chewing their "tabacy" but I snapped a candid photo of both Ronnie and Risa doing something that looked very similar????

Trey lost tooth #2! This is very, very important to him. He is the youngest in his class and naturally loses his teeth late. Compound both of those with the fact that your dad IS a dentist and it is a painfully slow wait to see all your friends lose their teeth and not you.
Bex was sad I wouldn't pull one of his out so this is his photo to be like his brother.

A miracle happened at our house. Caeden got into the Nutella that Trey left out and with this crazy mess on his face and hands he somehow managed not to get it on ANYTHING else at all!

Trey and Bex had swimming lessons last week. Trey is now a level 3 and Bex is a level 2. They loved it and now that it is warm we can go swim at the lakes by our house.

Although not together Carson was able to do two of his favorite things last weekend. On Friday night the guys all got together for a Halo Night. We cut it off early and ended at 1am which was nice because we had our flag football practice at 8 am the next morning. The Maple Valley team didn't make the playoffs this year so we are starting early to make that happen.

We got AC with our new home, but have not been able to enjoy it. After having the company come out 3 times over some very long and hot summer days they finally figured out that we have a Freon leak. So much for the Ozone layer in Maple Valley I guess. Seattle summers are supposed to be great because after a long and dreary winter you have perfect summers, but the last couple of weeks have been an unbearable 85 degrees. Believe me, that is bad b/c us Seattleites have a very narrow window of comfortability and we are very spoiled living in such a temperate climate. To beat the heat last Sunday we went for a drive in the car. It was supposed to last 30 minutes, but after 3 detours (1 collapsing bridge, 1 drowning victim and 1 car crash) we ended up home 2 hours later with some hungry boys.

The great thing with the heat though has been some amazing thunderstorms. Three nights of sweet lighting and thunder shows. We live in the foothills so the thunder rolls for a long time. It has been scary for the boys though, especially Bex b/c he is afraid the lightning is going to come in his room and get him.

Another funny thing lately has been Bex's fixation on dirt roads in Idaho. We think the dirt road part came from a story he heard of his babysitter's house having all the fish in their pond eaten by a bear. We had to explain that they live on a dirt road in the forest and were gone on vacation for a week. Bears don't come into suburbia while you are home, at least not very often, but we didn't tell him that. The Idaho part? Don't know where that comes from.

Oh! And six months later than his brother, Bex is finally potty trained officially after going 1 week without any accidents. Yeah!

Nice post. As for the Calderwood firework tradition, well that will now be a thing of the past. Ryan is no longer sherriff in Teton County. We lost our protection!

Hey, I read that you guys put your food storage in your crawl space. We did that too and ended up throwing tons of it away because we had some water that got into the crawlspace and rusted the cans. We now have no clue where to keep food storage. Just thought I should share that info in case you've got another place you could pack it away.

I'm loving the glimpses I'm getting of the house. And did you take that shot of the lightening? Nice. What kind of camera do you have? Are you guys happy with it? I'm so sick of mine and can't wait for a new one. Let me know what your camera experience is.

Nancy,
the fireworks, food storage and lightning pics were from the web. We have the original canon digital rebel and love it, but wish we had an external flash, telephoto lens with image stabilization and sometimes a different camera to get even higher resolution.

Dude. This is like 6 posts in one! I don't know which to comment about. But you're a pretty mean dad to not pull out your little guy's tooth. Way to spoil the first child.

Carson!! Is your flag football league fun? Knowing there are some leagues up there gets me all excited!! I have had to travel to Vegas to play with my brothers to get my competitive juices out of me. We are coming to Seattle in Sept. from the 4-9 and we would like to see you guys. My cousin is getting married on the 6th but I will call before then to see if you guys are busy. That weekend is when BYU plays Washington. Construction looks good on the new building!!
